  • Presentation of the Kansas SNAP at the Mountain Plains Regional SNAP meeting, 2006, and at the Second National Nutrition Conference, 2005.
  •  Kansas food assistance program promotion campaign, by Karen  Fitzgerald, published in the Social Marketing Quarterly, 2004; 10:54-57,  about the food assistance (food stamp) campaign in two Kansas  communities.

  • "Good Beginnings Last A Lifetime" award from the Kansas Association of
    Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies to KNN for making a significant contribution to the improvement of child care in Kansas by developing the ABC's of Toddler Nutrition Time, 2004.
  • Encouraging Physical Acitivity in Child Care Environments, by Bronwyn Fees, Gwen Bailey, Barbara Roths, Karen Fitzgerald, Courtney Dunbar and Carol Hockersmith was published in the Journal of Early Education and Family Review, February 2004.
  • The video that accompanies the Nutrition: Good for You! curriculum won the  Best Audio Visual Materials award from the Kansas Public Health Association, September 2002.
  • The evaluation of the physical activity lesson of the Nutrition: Good for You! curriculum was published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior.(Roths et al J Nutr Educ Behav. 2002;34:343-344)
  • Best Written Materials award from Kansas Public Health Association to KNN for food stamp promotional display, September 2002. Food stamp participation increased 13.23% in the Overland Park area during the initial 12 months of this campaign. Overall food stamp participation in Kansas was 12.03% during the same 12 months. That is, approximately 32 additional households participated in food stamps during the campaign. At an average household benefit of $151.62/month, this is approximately $58,224 during those 12 months.
