“Making a few simple dietary improvements, such as substituting 100 percent whole wheat bread for white bread, lean ground beef for regular, and low-fat cheese for whole-fat, increases monthly food spending $70 to $80 per month for a family of four, according to a new University of California study. This higher cost represents 35 to 40 percent of low-income consumers' food budgets." http://makeashorterlink.com/?E59D213AA |
| For the eighth consecutive year,
the Feinstein Foundation will divide $1 million among
agencies fighting hunger in the U.S. How much an agency receives depends
on how much they raise in regular donations from March 1, 2005-April 30,
2005. The $1 million will be divided proportionately among participating
agencies, and the more an agency raises, the more it will receive. Last
year, a total of $105.7 million was raised. Some agencies even managed to
triple their monthly income! Support your favorite agency. For more information, visit the Feinstein Foundation at www.feinsteinfoundation.org. |
