May 8-9, 2007 KNN will meet in partnership with the KACAP Conference on Poverty in Topeka. The KNN meeting will be held Tuesday May 8th.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s 2006 annual report is now available online, with easily accessible PDFs for individual sections of the report. "We will reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity." With these words, President and CEO Risa Lavizzo-Mourey begins to chart an ambitious course for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She outlines the Foundation’s plan to invest $500 million over the next five years to reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity.

CDC Finds Few Americans Follow Guidelines for Produce Consumption, Physical Activity A report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) finds that just one in seven American adults meets federal guidelines for produce consumption and physical activity, Reuters reports.

Study Finds Family Dinner Habits Influence Children's Produce Consumption
A study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association suggests that families who eat dinner together with the television off eat more fruits and vegetables than those who eat separately or with the television on.

McDonald's Plans to Improve Nutritional Content of Happy Meals
Amid national concern about childhood obesity rates, McDonald's is revamping its children's meal combinations to comply with nutritional guidelines, Dow Jones Newswire reports.

The Food Stamp Program has changed over time from primarily focusing on getting a sufficient quantity of food to an increased emphasis on also choosing healthful foods with high nutritional quality.
