Upcoming Meetings: January 19, 2007 Topeka at the ClubHouse Inn. This is a new date! The topic will be on Commodity Foods. We will have two speakers present on commodity foods and we will hear about the new 5 A Day "brand". The meeting will be from 10am - 2pm. Please let us know if you will be attending. RSVP sprice@ksu.edu March 9, 2007 Manhattan. Location to be announced. Barbara LaClair will give an update on the Kansas Food Security Task Force. May 8-9, 2007 KNN will meet in partnership with the KACAP Conference on Poverty in Topeka.

Clarence Carter, deputy administrator for Family Nutrition Programs with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, presented a bonus award of $1,590,582 to Kansas Lt. Gov. John Moore and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS). | RWJF-Supported Analysis Concludes School Soft Drink Deals Are Far Less Lucrative Than Previously Believed The analysis of 120 contracts in 16 states concludes that the beverage contracts raise, on average, less than $20 per student annually. |
Participation in the national School Breakfast Program continues its steady increase, according to the Food Research and Action Center’s School Breakfast Scorecard 2006. The program had a record 7.7 million low-income children receiving free and reduced-price breakfast on an average day during the 2005-2006 school year.
