California Program Supplies Low-Income Families with Local Produce
A pilot program in California's Ventura County is providing low-income families with free produce in an effort to curb childhood obesity, the Ventura County Star reports.

Since MyPyramid’s launch last April 19, the English-language version has become one of the most widely visited government websites, with more than 1.6 billion hits (that’s equal to three times the population of the United States). New York City Report Finds High Rates of Obesity in Underserved Preschool Children
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene released a report finding that low-income children living in New York City have a one-in-four chance of becoming obese by age 2, the New York Times reports.
